Grants offered for cultural projects

January 10, 2014 By Northwest Asian Weekly

Deadlines for 4Culture grant programs are Feb. 26 for heritage and historic preservation projects and March 6 for art projects. All applications must be received by 5 p.m.

The programs, funded through King County lodging tax revenues, are designed to develop and maintain the cultural resources, historic perspective, and unique character of King County.  All applications will be evaluated through a peer panel review process by King County-based administrators, practitioners, specialists, and community representatives, with recommendations submitted to the 4Culture board for final approval.

Heritage grants are open to individuals and organizations for support of innovative proposals to document and interpret the history of King County. Awards range from $1,500 to $10,000.

Preservation grants are open to individuals, organizations, and public agencies that have projects that highlight historic places in innovative ways. The program offers funding for neighborhood survey/inventory, landmark registration, project planning, and more. Awards range from $3,000 to $10,000.

Grants for art projects provide funds to King County-based artists and art groups of all disciplines to plan, create, and present their work. Awards range from $1,500 to $7,500. (end)

Free workshops for upcoming program deadlines have been scheduled to assist applicants interested in applying. For more information, see www.4culture.org or call 206-296-7580.
