Sheng-Yen Lu Foundation awards $240,000 in grants to Seattle nonprofits

The Sheng-Yen Lu Foundation (SYL Foundation) held a grant award ceremony on Aug. 24 at Meydenbauer Convention Center. A total of $240,000 in grant funds were distributed to fifteen nonprofit organizations working to improve health and education access.

The eight recipients of education grants were 826 Seattle, City Year, College Access Now, Community Day School Association, Renton Area Youth & Family Services, Seattle Education Access, Treehouse, and Year Up. The grants fund programs targeting early education, dropout prevention, and college readiness.

The seven healthcare grant recipients were International Community Health Services (ICHS), Jubilee Reach Center, Kin On Community Health Center, Medical Teams International, Neighborcare Health, Smile Partners, and Youth Eastside Services. (end)
