The Northwest Asian Weekly won three editorial awards at the 2013 Society of Professional Journalists Gala, which was hosted May 17. The awards were given for stories produced in 2012.
Will Livesley-O’Neill won third place in the spot news reporting division for his work on the Yesler Terrace redevelopment. Tiffany Ran won third place in the government and politics news reporting section for her story on the McKenna aide tweet fiasco.
Evangeline Café won third place in the arts reporting and criticism section for her feature of Filipino stage actress Lea Salonga. This year, the Northwest Asian Weekly competed in the non-daily newspaper division.
Earlier in 2013, Northwest Asian Weekly writer Deanna Duff won two awards for work with the Northwest Asian Weekly from the Washington Press Association. (end)
