PICTORIAL: The Chinatown Seafair Parade July 26, 2013 By Northwest Asian Weekly Leave a Comment Photos by George Liu & Assunta Ng/NWAW Thousands of people crowded the streets of Chinatown to get a glimpse of the 2013 Chinatown Seafair Parade. Sakura Con made its second visit to the International District in as many weeks, as cosplayers once again showed off their hard work. The Seniors in Action Foundation, responsible for the Chinatown camera system, came out to celebrate. The Greater Seattle Chinese Chamber of Commerce float commemorated 50 years of the chamber’s existence. The 2013 Seattle Miss Chinatown pageant, scheduled for September, will be the first Seattle Miss Chinatown Pageant since 2009. Miss Chinatown USA 2013, Seattle-native Leah Li Children from the Huayin Performing Arts group marching to traditional drums. Wash. State Japanese Queen Christine Ito Seattle City Councilmember Bruce Harrell marching with his family. City Council Candidate Albert Shen, who runs an office out of the ID, also marched. The Seafair clowns made an appearance. Dow Constantine Chief of Staff Sung Yang with wife SoYoung Kwon, and daughter Sophie. State Sen. Ed Murray marching with his partner Michael Shiosaki The Seattle Chinese Community Girls Drill Team wore t-shirts in memory of Cheryl Chow. Floats from all over the greater Puget Sound area visited. Multiple drill teams and drum lines performed during the parade.
