LETTER: Make your voice heard at city hall

October 4, 2011 By Northwest Asian Weekly

To the Editor:

The Mayor McGinn’s proposal to move activities away from the ID/Chinatown Community Center to Jefferson and Rainier Community Centers effectively removes the opportunity for young people and seniors who live in the ID to have an accessible place for activities.

Will our seniors have to travel three miles to play mahjong instead of walking around the corner or across the street? Will our children have to travel four miles to enjoy a holiday party? Will these large facilities even make space for the traditionally Asian activities that the IDCCC is known for?

There will be public meetings held on Oct. 4 and Oct. 26 at City Hall. Please make your voice heard!

— Tamblyn Alexander, Seattle
