July 5: Gov. Gregoire appoints four to CAPAA

Gov. Chris Gregoire has appointed four individuals to the Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs.

Lisa Dickinson resides in Spokane. She is the owner of the Dickinson Law Firm, PLLC, where she practices business law and civil litigation. She has served on the board of the Northwest Justice Project, MLK Family Outreach Center, Rotary Club 21, as Past President of the Spokane Chapter of the Washington Women Lawyers, and Spokane County Young Lawyers. She also served as legal advisor to the Japanese American Citizens League (Spokane Chapter).

Pearl Leung lives in Seattle and is the community relations manager in the department of corporate communications at Vulcan. Leung previously worked for Gov. Gary Locke and Rep. Velma Veloria. She is a board member on the Low Income Housing Institute and the South Lake Union Community Council.

Quang Nguyen resides in Seattle and is an economic development specialist for the Seattle Chinatown/International District Preservation Development Authority.

Nguyen most recently served as executive director for the Washington Vietnamese American Chamber of Commerce.

Frieda Takamura, of Renton, has been reappointed to a second term.

Takamura is a long-time educator and community activist. More recently, she retired from the position of human/civil rights coordinator at the Washington Education Association. ♦
