Don’t ever say that Asian Americans are politically passive. If you had attended the Seattle City Council hearing on Oct. 26, you would have been surprised to see that the Asian community was all over the place. The Asian Counseling and Referral Service folks were inside. The Seattle Chinatown International District Preservation & Development Authority was represented, and the International District Emergency Center supporters were in the overflow room.
In response to the mayor’s new budget, their message was clear, “We disagree with Mayor McGinn’s budget cuts.” ♦
