Wing Luke contractors honored

May 9, 2009 By Northwest Asian Weekly

The exterior of the Wing Luke Asian Museum at it new location

Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington (ABC) honored 15 outstanding projects with its 2009 Excellence in Construction Awards. Marpac Construction, which worked on the Wing Luke Asian Museum’s new location, was one of the organizations recognized.

The $23.2 million rehabilitation of the East Kong Yick Building, in the International District, into the permanent home of the Wing Luke Asian Museum represents the culmination of many years of work to preserve and honor the history of Asian Americans in the United States. In addition to museum space, the converted building contains exhibits of preserved historic apartments, stores, and social clubs.
