Up, up and away

The Port of Seattle uses a water turret salute June 9, 2008, to welcome the inaugural flight of Hainan Airlines’ nonstop service between Beijing and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Hainan Airlines, China’s largest non-government-owned carrier, currently offers the only nonstop service between Beijing and Seattle.

Hainan Airlines Chairman Chen Feng, Minister of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China Liu Guang Yuan, Gov. Chris Gregoire, SeaTac Managing Director Mark Reis and Port of Seattle Commissioner Lloyd Hara presented remarks, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Hainan Airlines flight crew officially marked the new route’s inauguration.
